Google Maps API v2 tutorial - Loaded event still missing!?

Are you also looking for where to find info about the google maps API’s next version? Me too - but I found one! This seems a very nice tutorial and it outlines some of the new features, like the neat overview map (here is the example).

But I am still looking for an event that tells me when the map has completed loading. It just is not very nice when I want to rely on showing something on the map for a while, but I can’t even figure out when it is completely shown to the user.

The property map.tileImages doesn’t seem to exist anymore in v2, it somehow didn’t work anyways. I had tried it and the complete property of the images was always true, for some strange reason. Just for the info: you can access all the images via map.tileImages[0..3][0..3].overlayImage. There are four images in each array and I guess they are for the different kind of view types and the map always consists of four images, but I can’t tell for sure, since I quit experimenting when I found out that complete was always true. So this info was not leading to my goal. I keep on looking.
Unfortunately the info available on the net are not very exhaustive, may be google just wants to hold back some info to assure that noone does what they will do next. Mmmmh, that is very bad thinking :-/. *slapmyself*

Update: Links fixed, thanks Anup for the hint.

    Google has decided that its users of their well-liked Google Maps service will begin becoming charged a fee for utilizing their service. Websites that are going embedding a Google Map of their location will be charged a fee for usage.This new Google Maps fee is going to hit mostly the bigger companies, particularly the Travel industry. I suspect that certain websites that are the heaviest users would be websites like TripAdvisor and Expedia.`;
